Blair Fraser was a famous reporter for the CBC and editor for MacLeans Magazine for some time. As an avid canoeist he often traveled down the mighty Petewawa River. Unfortunately in 1968 while descending the Rollaway Rapids, Fraser was killed when his canoe tipped in the calss IV rapids. His fellow voyageurs erected this memorial along P850 bypassing Rollaway Rapids. It was cut down and tossed in the river by vandels in 2008 but in 2013 his family and friends returned to the site, found the cross in the water and re-erected it. You can see the original spot where the cross was cut in the photo above.
